Good oral hygiene is important for a healthy smile, and with braces it is especially important to keep your teeth and gums clean! When you have braces, food particles can often get trapped in the wires and brackets, and should be cleaned out at regular intervals of the day in order to prevent cavities and to prevent gum inflammation. Although both types of brushes will work, electric toothbrushes can be more efficient than manual brushes. Studies by the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics have shown that an electric toothbrush can promote better oral hygiene for those with braces. At My Star Orthodontics in Katy, we want your braces and your teeth to be as clean as possible for your orthodontic treatment to be a pleasant experience. Since it has been found that electric brushes promote better dental hygiene, we encourage our patients to consider this option.

Have Regular Dental Checkups

Flossing and brushing at home is very important but so is keeping up to date with your dentist. We recommend that you have regular cleanings and checkups with your pediatric or general dentist to make sure your teeth are healthy before, during, and after orthodontics in Katy, TX. If you are looking for a general dentist in Katy, TX we can recommend one for you and your family.

Have A Consistent Oral Hygiene Routine

Between dental visits, you should be taking great care of your teeth by practicing good oral hygiene.
