Traditional Braces
Braces have the ability to correct crowded, crooked, and spaced teeth, and together with appliances and rubber bands can correct mild to moderately misaligned bites. In addition to creating a beautiful straight smile, braces may be able to address issues directly caused by a bad bite such as problems biting and chewing food, certain speech and pronunciation problems, and difficulty with flossing and keeping teeth clean.
As orthodontic technology has progressed, traditional metal braces are now smaller, sleeker, and more comfortable than ever. They are made of stainless steel, and are connected to flexible thin wires that progressively get changed for sturdier wires. Newer materials apply a gentle, constant force to get the teeth to move and require fewer adjustments.
Although the flexible wires do most of the work in the initial straightening of the teeth, periodic adjustments are needed in order to make sure the teeth are straightening efficiently under the careful supervision of an orthodontist. At My Star Orthodontics you can rest assured you are receiving the best care.
